Sweeper Man has gone Green with the Basin Blocker storm drain insert filter! Runoffs from construction sites, dumpsites, parking lots, and roadways contain chemicals that can contaminate wells and surface water used as a source of drinking water. The rate at which water carries soil and contaminants off of construction sites is typically 10 to 20 times greater than that from agricultural lands, and 1,000 to 2,000 times greater than those of forest lands. The water that is running directly into our streams is often picking up pollutants along the way. These pollutants can include zinc from the wear of automobile tires, copper from auto brake pad wear, oil from auto engines, fertilizers and pesticides from lawns and gardens, and anything else that will float or dissolve in water.
Parking lots and roads collect pollution every time a vehicle drives across them or parks on them. Pollutants accumulate on these surfaces and are washed off by rainfall that would otherwise percolate into the soil under natural conditions. Pollution by this means is called non-point pollution, and is a growing problem. In truth, non-point pollution accounts for over half of the pollution reaching our creeks and streams. These problems clearly indicate the need for programs that address the control of non-point source pollution.

Newly, the government has been taking steps to control the pollutants that are entering our waterways. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is stepping up its enforcement strategies, therefore raising the fines for the companies that are not willing to provide the full extent of protection for the storm drain systems. In recent years, Wal-Mart, Meijers Inc., and many cities in the U.S have been fined massive amounts of money by the EPA stemming from environmental violations- mainly excessive storm water runoff at construction sites, having hazardous waste in their drains and allegedly failing to maintain drainage swales, detention basins, and secondary containments which allows polluted storm water to be discharged into state waters.
Imagine being able to eliminate the fines and take one more step in the right direction to show your governing agency you are taking valuable steps to improve our water ways. The Basin Blocker comes in Standard form that collects sediment and trash <or> Oil Collection which traps hydrocarbons as well as the sediment and trash. The Basin Blocker catches everything while letting the water through even during intense rain and heavy flow. Basin Blocker was designed to let more water through the bag then the grate system alone. It is cost effective and easy to install. The Basin Blocker complies with all government requirements. We now also have HOA Assisted Programs which will save you even more money over time.
